She contributed to the proofreading of responses to reviewers, helped us to improve the articles in accordance with their comments, and used her expertise to assist us in our correspondences with the editors. « Madame Lançon translated parts of my book “Les Mots du ciel” (Words of the Sky) in English. This book was published by the Éditions du CNRS and I am myself an astrophysicist at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique.
This translation work was extremely challenging, as it had to meet two requirements:
rigor in
linguistics but also in Science.
The words from my book are in relation with vocabulary from the sky and the cosmos, which each and everyone of us use in everyday life. These words cannot always be translated in English and thus, the translator needs to find a possible correspondence. Furthermore, many anecdotes or references concern a French audience. Mrs Lançon showed literacy and curiosity, these qualities allowed her to expand the content of the text to English and American culture and find equivalences. With respect to science, the text also requires technical vocabulary.

I observed the energy, efficiency and expertise of Mrs Lançon with much admiration. The work was interactive (she asked many questions and made a lot of suggestions), and it moved rapidly and smoothly. »
The responsabilities of Mrs Lançon exceeded translation as she searched for English editors and contacted them in order to publish the book. She wrote and sent the application forms and succeeded in getting the book accepted by Springer. Subsequently, she served as corresponding author with the editor and answered the reviewers.
